Oatmeal porridge with apples, banana or other you love!

This is an inexpensive, easy, healthy & lovely breakfast ( .. lunch, dinner … 🙂 )

♥ Also for babies (who can chew) from 7 months. You can easily purée or grate the fruits into their porridge.

Here you have the What*When babyfood list to help you out.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Yields: 1-2

Ingredients

  • 45g organic oatmeal (I buy gluten free)
  • 250ml water or "milk" you like (organic almond milk, rice milk, milk, etc.)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt (optional)

Method

  1. 3 different ways to prepare:
  2. *Put your oatmeal in a small sauce pan with the water and salt if using. Turn the heat up until it begins to boil, turn the heat down, stir for around 1 minute adding more water or milk depending on how you want your oat porridge to be, thick or thin.
  3. OR you can also simply put the oatmeal in a bowl with hot water, stir and let sit for around 3-4 minutes and then it is ready.
  4. OR you can also soak your oatmeal over night in a bowl in your fridge, then you can warm it a bit the next morning or serve as is.

Additional Info

  • When the porridge is ready you can add anything you like to it (and puree/grate for babies):
  • ♥ Grated apple or apple bits (even apple sauce or pureed apples)
  • ♥ Cinnamon
  • ♥ Vanilla
  • ♥ Banana
  • ♥ Blueberries or other berries you like
  • ♥ Raisins, figs, Goji berries, Mulberries, dates or other
  • ♥ Almonds or other seeds and nuts you love
  • ♥ Desiccated coconut
  • ♥ 1-2 tbsp organic cream or coldpressed coconut oil (to stabilize bloodsugar, give you energy and good fats)
  • ♥ 3-6 drops organic liquid Via-Health stevia if you want your porridge sweet (completely unnecessary for children)
  • ♥ You could also use just a little organic honey (not for babies) or coconut palm sugar (unnecessary for children)
  • ♥ I recommend giving babies and children (and yourself) 1tsp-1tbsp coldpressed flax seed or hemp seed oil in the morning as well as purified fish oil, 1tsp-1tbsp, for omega-3's and good energy as well as to stabilize bloodsugar levels.
