Hummus, I love you hummus!

Hummus is an abselutely wonderful, inexpensive protein food, packed with calcium as well as healthy fats. I love it with cut vegetables as a dip!

Takes around 5 minutes to make.

Yields: 4-6


  • 350g cooked chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp white organic tahini
  • 1-2 garlic cloves, pressed (optional)
  • Sea salt & pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tsp cumin OR paprika OR 1/3 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 lemon/lime, the juice (you can add more if you like)
  • Olive oil to thin it out and you can also use a little bit of water
  • 1 tsp tamari sauce is nice but not necessary


  1. Rinse your chickpeas in a sieve under cold running water.
  2. Put them along with the rest of the ingredients in your blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  3. Keep in an airtight jar with a lid in your fridge.

Additional Info

Hummus keeps for around 4-6 days.
