Babyfood; Lentils with cauliflower or broccoli

  • 1 leek
  • 1 carrot
  • 1/3 cauliflower or broccoli head
  • 1-2 handfulls kale (optional)
  • 80g lentils, red
  • 500ml water
  • 1/2-1 cube or tbsp msg and yeast free vegetable stock (organic)


  1. Wash the leek and chop it.
  2. Wash the carrot and cauliflower or broccoli and chop it into bite size chunks.
  3. Wash the kale and chop it.
  4. Put everything together in a relatively small saucepan or pot and boil over low heat for about 20 minutes.
  5. Puree in the pot with a handheld blender or simply serve as is (or mash with a fork).
  6. This keeps in the fridge for 3 days and freezer for 2 months.

Additional Info

  • ♥ Remember to add healthy fats like 1 tbsp organic butter/cream or coldpressed olive oil/coconut oil/pumpkinseed oil into your babies food. I add it only just before serving.
  • ♥ Around 9 months (and sooner if your baby likes chewing), it is a good idea to begin to mash the food by hand when possible or cut finely, instead of puréeing it, to get your baby used to new and coarser food textures. See also list of ideal finger foods.
