Here you have guidelines to help you out regarding when you can start feeding your baby different kinds of healthy foods. This is not carved in stone .. it's merely a guideline that might also help parents remember to feed their baby something healthy that they are not used to eating themselves :) If you start giving your baby solids around 4 months old you can still start giving the foods in the 6 month column. No worries! :) To be able to monitor if your baby as an allergic reaction ...

Mixing it up

Dear friends. A friend came over last week and spoke about how she had started eating more nuts after lunch and until supper to curb her sugar cravings. This reminded me to remind you of this lovely option which is so easy to take with anywhere or have at home to enjoy whenever. You of course simply buy those nuts you love (I buy organic) for instance: Macadamians Walnuts Cashews Almonds   .. and I like a little bit of sweetness to go with it .. (some do, and some don't - your ...

TARAMAR and wonders of the sea ..

When I started caring more about what I ate (around 20 years ago) and learning more about nutrition, organic foods, sustainability etc. etc. I remember a woman telling me that we should only put on our skin, what is safe to eat. Because everything we put on our skin, seeps into our system.. This actually made great sense to me although it took me a little time to change into all organic and pure skincare. But when I had my children, I used only organic cold pressed oils on them and sometimes ...

Cold pressed coconut oil for babies and parents

Cold pressed coconut oil is wonderful to rub your skin with before you shower or bathe. It makes your skin very soft and beautiful and protects it from drying in the water. I often dry brush my skin towards the heart before I shower, rub it with coconut oil and then shower. The warmth of the water helps the oil to penetrate the skin and body (which is good) and the oil also takes away all smell. So rub those armpits too! :) This makes it completely unnecessary to use any soap. I only use ...

Reuse your Zip locks

Hi dear parents. It's a great idea to wash well your zip lock bags with hot water and then dry them with a clean cotton cloth/towel. Then you can use them over and over again. This is better for the environment/our earth .. and good for our wallet too :) Our earth is suffocating in plastic. I use clean glass jars with a lid for leftovers most of the time. But occasionally zip lock bags are better, like in the freezer for my blueberry harvest ..

Kids can make waffles

Dear parents. From 10 years old your children can make waffles by themselves at home. Simply teach them to work the waffle iron and help them out for the first time they do the recipe and after that they can do it without any trouble! Hanna is now 14 and she has been making waffles after school since she was 10 and now Haflidi (10 years old, almost 11) has followed in her footsteps. He often makes waffles for him and his friends after school. Waffles you make at home from good quality ...

Soft boiled eggs

Soft boiled eggs are such a lovely, simple, quick and easy to make health food. Organic eggs are loaded with nutrients and even more so when less cooked (and more delicious I find!). Organic soft boiled eggs contain for example quality protein, healthy fats, iron, Vitamin A and D. I often enjoy 2 soft boiled eggs for breakfast.   ♥ Organic eggs means that the laying hens have access to the outdoors and get to roam around freely (not in cages) with enough space and lay their ...

When I wake up..

Dear friends. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is drink a large cup of hot water (around 37°C). Why? ♥ Helps your body cleanse itself ♥ Flushes out the kidneys ♥ Prepares your stomach for food ♥ Helps bowels move more regularly and naturally (add 3 tbsp of olive oil to your water if you are constipated and remember magnesium as well, every day!) In my experience if I start my day off right, light and lovely, it's much easier to make the healthiest ...

Why do we need iron?

Iron is a mineral that is found in every cell in the body. Iron is used by blood cells to carry oxygen to all cells in the body. Enough iron helps us fight infections because it keeps the immune system healthy and it also helps brain cells work normally. Furthermore, if we are lacking in iron we get tired much more quickly, as our overall endurance is severely compromised. Symptoms of iron deficiency are tiredness, depression, limited attention span, difficulty focusing, hyperactivity, ...
