How to make recipes healthier!

♥ From my book; What should I feed my baby?

When you are baking it is very easy to tweak recipes here and there just a little to make them much healthier for you and your loved ones. When you use quality ingredients they will only get better I promise you. I do this all the time.

Here are some guidelines to help you out:

For cakes:

1 cup wheat = 1 cup organic fine spelt
1 cup wheat = ¾ cup organic fine spelt and ¼ cup grounded almonds, desiccated coconut or buckwheat for example.

For breads:

1 cup whole wheat or wheat = 1 cup organic whole spelt
1 cup whole wheat or wheat = ¾ cup organic whole spelt and ¼ cup grounded almonds, nuts or seeds or leftover almond (nut/seed) pulp, desiccated coconut, oatmeal or buckwheat for example.

♥ I also love organic kamut

Cakes:

1 cup sugar = 3/4-1 cup coconut palm sugar

1 cup sugar = 3/4 cup raw organic cane sugar
1 cup sugar = 1 1/4cup date puree
1 cup sugar = 3/4 cup organic honey
1 cup sugar = 1/2-3/4 cup organic agave syrup

♥ Also try using very ripe bananas in cake recipes!
