Ebba is a teacher and author from Reykjavik in Iceland. She is married and has two children; Hanna, 14 yrs old and a disabled son, double amputee Haflidi, 11 yrs old.
Ebba’s passion is; encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. This started in her early twenties when, determined to improve her own diet, she embarked on a journey of self-education; nutrition, healthy diet and achieving an organic lifestyle.
Having reaped the benefits of eating a healthy, nutritional diet, Ebba is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others. Her forte is producing recipes that are quick and easy to make, yet healthy and delicious. With a hectic professional and family life, Ebba is adept at creating recipes suited to that busy lifestyle, and with children’s nutrition a topic close to her own heart, her recipes can be relied upon to be child friendly. Her mission is clear; to encourage normal people, with busy lives, to make healthy, simple, delicious dishes and to show them how.
Ebba’s first book, What should I feed my baby? was inspired by the birth of her first child in 2002. During her daughter’s early years, Ebba studied, gathered information and created a collection of simple, healthy and delicious recipes, all eagerly tried and tested by her family! In 2007, her book was published. Since then, ‘What should I feed my baby?’ has become a best-selling publication and is recommended to parents by professionals in Iceland. Updated versions were produced in 2009 and 2015. The book was published in the UK in 2013 and is also available online.
Ebba’s second book was commissioned by the award winning, educational children’s program maker, Lazytown. ‘Cooking with Ebba in Lazytown’ proved to be a hit with the public and sold out rapidly.
As well as writing and publishing her books, Ebba is in demand as a teacher, lecturing on nutrition for babies and children, and family lifestyle, since 2006.
She also writes and hosts her own TV show on Iceland’s state owned channel, RUV. Ebba first appeared on Iceland’s biggest web-based news channel mbl.is – http://www.mbl.is/frettir/sjonvarp/thaettir/pure-ebba/73772/ for which she received excellent reviews and was soon offered her own TV show on RUV. Her show, ‘Homemade with Ebba’, in which she teaches viewers about health, nutrition and organic produce, has been a resounding success, attracting an audience with an age range spanning from 3 to 103!
Ebba’s professional success comes from her ability to teach and advocate healthy lifestyle choices, without preaching or moralising, and without a hint of prejudice or arrogance. This, combined with her unique presenting style; a natural and engaging combination of warmth, humour and effervescence, makes her audience fall in love with her and keeps them coming back for more.
